Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. As a young girl of just five, she moved to Oxfordshire and enrolled at her first Dragon School. Emma was six years old when she realized she wanted to be an actor. She trained for several years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford where she was taught acting and singing. From the age of 10, she took part and played the leading role in several Stagecoach Productions and School Plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone is the film from 2001 adaption to J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Agents for casting found Emma through her Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that following eight auditions Emma and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. The movie set records on opening day and weekend numbers, and was the most-recorded 2001 movie. Reviewers were awed by the movie and its performances. The Daily Telegraph in Britain and the Daily Telegraph in America, widely read, called her performance commendable. Emma received five awards to honor her role in the film.
